So Musk Love

13 September 2024

Musk is one of those quintessential Australian flavours that I have re-fallen in love with after trying Bilson Musk drink. The flavour instantly transports me into a high fashion haute couture fantasy which I had to draw something!

This illustration will have alot of texture to create a floral look. So once I had the pose done it was straight onto testing how I would illustrate the skirt. I had a couple of options but settled for an overlapping petal shape.

The petal was based on something I had illustrated with a traditional medium (unfortunately I don’t have a photo) but it was far more difficult to recreate the petal on Procreate.

I used an edited version of the Wildlight brush in procreate to paint the petal shape. A bit of control is required to ensure the colour intensity at the base of the petal which then softens at the petals’ edges. I then blend the colour with a soft airbrush  and add details with the 6B pencil

The final piece is packed with detail and reflects a romantic notion that the flavour entices.
